Lebanon: During a conference on counter-terrorism, Lebanon’s General Security director explicitly praised terrorism, saying that terrorism that terrorizes the enemy is not only a right but a duty.
Speaking to representatives from a dozen African countries Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim indirectly praised Hezbollah’s “resistance” and distinguished its terrorism from other forms of terror.
The two-day event was titled ‘Defeat of Terrorism in the Region and its Impact on Africa’ and was attended by African delegates from a swath of countries affected by terrorism in the Sahel region of Africa, including Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic. Diplomats from Tunisia, Oman, Egypt and Russia also attended the conference. Ibrahim runs Lebanon’s General Security Directorate, which makes him the “eyes and ears” of Lebanon and gives his agency power over a variety of local and foreign threats to Lebanon.
Earlier this month, Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim’s separated wife alleged that her two and a half year old son has been taken from her home.
The two and a half year old son of Abbas Ibrahim was seen in a video being pulled from the home of his mother, who said she hasn’t heard of his whereabouts since.
“[Ibrahim] is telling people that he has only seen his son four times in the last year, but he sees him four times a week,” Fatima Zaarour, the boy’s mother, told The Daily Star.
