Afghanistan: On Monday, ITCT’s sources confirmed that US war planes mistakenly struck Afghan troops in Nad Ali district of Helmand province, killing at least 20 Afghan Army (ANA) soldiers and injuring several more. There has been no statement from Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan so far.

In another incident in Kunar province, three family members of Afghan parliamentary candidate Qari Attaullah Safi were killed during an operation in Narang district. It was not immediately clear whether the operation was carried out by Afghan forces or foreign forces, but ITCT’s well-placed sources confirm that it was a joint raid. Reports in Afghan media said that the three family members killed were Qari Safi’s bodyguards, which is partially true, since they were there to protect him.

UPDATE:

Taliban sources confirmed that US war planes mistakenly bombed Afghan Army positions when Afghan Army was in the area to launch an operation against Taliban.

UPDATE:

According to Taliban claim, clashes erupted between pro-govt Arbaki militiamen and ASF troops backed up by US forces in Nad Ali district before US war planes carried out airstrikes. Taliban sources also claim that two US soldiers were also killed in the US airstrikes.
