Tunisia: A female suicide bomber has blown herself up in the centre of Tunisia’s capital, Tunis, according to state radio.
The explosion took place on the Habib Bourguiba avenue which runs through the middle of the city, news agency Reuters reported.
ITCT Newsdesk has obtained the photo of the suspected female suicide bomber who has been identified as 30 year old Muna Kebla:
ITCT Associate on Africa desk Jasmine Opperman said it appears the explosive device was hidden in the woman’s handbag.
Witnesses say the alleged bomb detonated close to a number of police officers. Videos from the scene showed three police officers on the ground. Tunisian radio said up to eight police officers and a civilian were wounded.
