Jasmine Opperman is a former Director of Africa Desk at Terrorism Research & Analysis Consortium (TRAC). Jasmine’s areas of expertise include methodological risk analysis and the management of intelligence processes (operations, counter intelligence, covert activities and analysis). Jasmine is qualified as a risk analyst and holds a Master’s Degree in History at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa). Her aptitude emanates from 19 years employment in formal intelligence structures, at which time she attained the position of Provincial Head Eastern Cape Province. During her tenure as Provincial Head, she engaged in senior Government liaison, inclusive of Premiers, MECs and Ministers. Jasmine was also commissioned as Senior Trainer at the Intelligence Academy, focusing on analysis, operational analysis, counter-terrorism, low-intensity conflict and intelligence management within a constitutional democracy. Jasmine is also well versed in information management and the compilation of both tactical and strategic analysis products. Since leaving the intelligence community, Jasmine has been engaged in several projects related to business risk and process analysis as to assist in transforming such risks into business opportunities. Her interests are primarily related to Africa’s political and economic trends and developments the impact thereof on various business sectors. Jasmine has consulted a number of diverse companies on finding solutions to their challenges. Jasmine worked as a provincial head with South African domestic Intelligence service National Intelligence Agency (NIA) for 19 years.
